Calvin Woodring

Calvin Woodring

Pastor Emeritus

Calvin and Barbara Woodring met at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, where he was preparing for ministry and she was earning a degree in Elementary Education. They were married in 1969 at Barbara’s home church in Calhoun, Georgia. Their first pastoral appointment took them to a small church in Smyrna, Delaware.

The Woodring’s ministry of more than 50 years remained in the Delmarva-DC region as Pastor and Associate Pastor. They retired in 2014 and now serve as Pastor Emeritus at the Living Waters Church of God under the leadership of Pastors Bob and Virginia Nickle.

Barbara’s training and love for children enabled her to serve communities where she lived as a teacher in public and Christian schools. She has also invested into the lives of many children as Sunday School teacher and Children’s Church minister.

In addition to pastoral duties, Calvin has volunteered as hospital chaplain, doing funerals and other community services in the towns of his assignments.
The Woodrings are blessed with two daughters. Deena presently serves as Head of Perry Hall Christian School. Her husband, Dr. Al Ruff, does medical research. Suzanne is a professor at Rochester University in Rochester, New York where her husband, Mark, also teaches. They are also blessed with two grandsons, Jacob and Aiden.

A guiding scripture for Pastor Calvin and Barbara has been Romans 8:28. Their marriage and ministry have been blessed with miracles of God’s provision and His gracious hand working all things together for good.
